Youth Info point in B&H (27 – 28 April 2007)
At the end of April, OIA organized a two-day meeting with 30 representatives of local authorities and youth organizations in Mostar, at which a new project called “Youth Info Point” was presented, as an additional tool for informing of young people at local level. This occasion was also used for more detailed elaboration of the action plan, its concrete contents, manner of realization, further development and cooperation. It was proposed at this meeting that OIA should deliver the prepared and agreed concept of this project in form of “Cooperation Offer” and send it to the mayors of selected municipalities/cities in B&H – 40 municipalities/cities with which this project would be realized.
Info point for young people is one of the simplest tools of local authorities for informing of young people in the local community. That is a B1 poster which offers information with relevant contacts about ALL most important services, institutions, public institutions that have certain programs and activities for young people. Such info point for young people will be placed in some visible location in the building of local authorities, secondary school and/or university centre, city library and/or other places that young people usually go to. In addition, the entire contents of this info point will also be placed on the largest portal for informing of young people in B&H – www.mladi.info.
Info point for young people has a standardized form and all local information is placed in 10 standardized categories of OIA’s info service:
- B&H Youth
- State and the youth
- Rights
- Education
- Employment
- Health
- Leisure time
- Organizations
- Information
- Practical life
In 35 to 40 municipalities/cities, OIA should by the end of summer 2007 in partnership with local authorities and local youth organizations create info points for young people. Local authorities will, with support of OIA and youth organizations and bodies, by means of a unified questionnaire, collect information they wish to be placed on their info point, which will then be put in adequate format and printed. Certain number of such posters/info points will be placed in agreed locations.
Project is supported by British Embassy in B&H, Open Society Fund - B&H and Olof Palme International Centre/SIDA.
