One more season of “Open Parliament” is over (June 2007)
OIA, in cooperation with Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and with assistance of the Parliamentary Support Program of OSCE Mission for 2007, successfully completed one more round of “Open Parliament” project. We would like to remind that activities on this project include two-hour study visits of young people from different cities of B&H, who then have the opportunity to get introduced with the Parliament work and legislative procedures, and to have a 45-minute dialogue about pressing issues with Parliament representatives. At the same time, from October last year, BHT1 and Radio Free Europe, as partners on this project, have also started with realisation of the TV show called “Open Parliament”, which you had a chance to watch on the program of BHT1 every Sunday at 1 PM.
From March to June 2007, 12 TV shows were realised, in which 53 guests participated on behalf of the B&H Parliament or some other institution, while the Parliament was visited by 554 young people from 11 B&H cities. Also, 3 classical visits were realised.
The aim of this project was to introduce the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, young people in the first place, with the institution of state parliament as well as legislative process. In addition, Open Parliament is one of the tools that will increase transparency in the work of highest legislative authority in B&H, but also make Parliamentary Representatives closer to their voters and citizens of B&H.
During meetings with autority representatives, young people had the opportunity to talk with them about responsibility of B&H authorities and holders of public functions, B&H Constitution, accession of B&H to EU, civil sector in our country, visa relief for B&H citizens, development of youth enterprenuership, tourism in B&H and many other interesting topics.
