FUTURE OF INFORMING THE YOUTH IN EUROPE (26-27.11.2007.)

On 26th and 27th November 2007, in Youth centre in Budapest, an expert colloquium was held under the name Future of informing the youth in Europe, organised by Council of Europe and ERYICA (European Youth and Counselling Agency). On behaf of YIA Sanja Kavaz, Info service coordinator, participated on this meeting. Colloquium was organised as part of Partnership agreement between the Council of Europe and ERYICA, in force since 1997, with the purpose to promote and develop European cooperation in the field of informing and counselling the youth using organised educational events for those who are professionally involved in such activities.

Joint Coordination Board for the Partnership agreement decided in 2006 to make activities in 2007 a reflection on informing the youth and its importance within the youth policies in the context of informative society.

The main goal of the colloquium was to develop inputs related to youth policies and practice in the area of informing and counselling the youth that could be integrated into political and strategic document “Youth policy of Council of Europe: AGENDA 2020".

The event hosted 39 participants from 16 countries who also were those who were relevant for youth policies in their countries: creators, users, NGOs and government institutions in order to debate over the key issues dealing with informing the youth. Results of the meeting will be used as elements for better defining the role and importance of informing within the youth policies as well as within the broader youth policy of Council of Europe.
