THE NEW PROJECT: EDUCATION PACKAGE ON YOUTH ACTIVISM (12.2007.)


In cooperation with the American organisation Endowment for Democracy (NED), Open Society Fund BiH and International centre Olof Palme/SIDA, YIA BiH started with implementation of the new partnership project in December.

General purpose of the project was to make education package for youth activism, for high school teachers in BiH that would include 4 TV shows, manual, and a small alternative textbook for the youth dealing with: election procedures, youth in the politics and youth organisations.

After the successful practice, YIA planned some new activities that would support sustainability of existing youth activism programmes, better complementation and connection with the system of education. We should have in mind that a lot has been done over the last couple of years regarding introduction on education of citizens in elementary and secondary schools, and that the past experience of YIA may be used in project that will attempt to enrich syllabus and help the high school students to take an active role in the society.

Task group of experts in relevant areas has been formed in order to ensure that the contents of textbooks is coordinated with syllabus and methods which are recognised as the most adequate and most useful for involving young people in the society.

In the next 3 months YIA will sum up previously achieved results and achievements, and transform the materials into education package that could additionally help the teachers to deal with issues on participation and activism of youth in school subjects, class community and sections/clubs (art club, photo club, etc.).
